The University of Oregon is paying $500,000 to settle a lawsuit with a woman who alleged that the school retaliated against her after she blew the whistle on a new "Visiting Scholars" program.
Dr. Jean Stockard, former head of the Planning, Public Policy and Management Department, sued Oregon in June 2006 after being forced to resign following her raising concerns about financial irregularities in a graduate program for foreign students, according to her suit.
