Months after his tenure as president in Mexico ended, Vicente Fox toured the United States promoting his new book Revolution of Hope and admitting to his desire for a North American merger. Appearing on Larry King Live on October 8, Fox was asked via e-mail about having a "united" currency in the Americas. Fox responded that that was the plan for the "long term," claiming that he and President Bush proposed the idea but that plans were derailed by Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez.
Fox's response must have sparked the interest of Larry King as he followed up with his own question, "It's going to be like the euro dollar, you mean?" To which Fox replied affirmatively and said further that certain "processes" would have to be implemented first, such as a "new vision, like we are trying to do with NAFTA."
