No film whose closing credits list a "senior inferno artist" is likely to lull us with its tranquil charms, and "The Kingdom" is a thumper of a movie, full of furious souls. The kingdom in question is Saudi Arabia, and before the story gets under way we are treated to a potted history of that country's birth, gushing wealth, and political machinations. The scene then narrows to an American compound near Riyadh--a miniature America, in fact, with the families of oil workers enjoying a ballgame and a barbecue.
