On January 1, 1954, NBC broadcast the first coast-to-coast color television program showing the Tournament of Roses Parade. More than 50 years later, the next leap in technology will occur on February 17, 2009, when full-power television broadcasters make the switch from analog to all-digital broadcasting. To help the public continue receiving free, over-the-air television after this date, the federal government has created the Digital-to-Analog Converter Box Coupon Program.
