Maney puts medieval and modern Midlands online

Journal publisher Maney is to publish Midland History and expand the journal's presence online. Midland History studies England from the Middle Ages to the present day with research articles that look at local subjects within a wider context. Maney said it planned to increase the title's frequency to two issues a year and add it to its MORE online history collection. Richard Cust, editor of Midland History, said: "An improved online version will greatly widen the dissemination of research and papers to new readers." Cust jointly edits the title with Stephen K Roberts.

Scopus joins identity game

Elsevier has announced what it says is the most significant tool for Scopus since the launch of the abstract and citation database itself. Scopus Affiliation Identifier enables organisations to automate the search process of analysing research output. The tool locates peer-reviewed articles belonging to an organisation from across the 15,000 journals available on Scopus. It can also match documents even when there are multiple names attributed to them A- for example, if a university has changed its name at some point. Universities that have been testing the system believe it will enable them to make significant cost savings, as the task is manually carried out at present.
