SIR: Cardinal George Pell in his September 2007 article, "Constantine, the First Catholic Emperor" should have written in his third paragraph, "as the Israelites escaped under Moses" instead of "as the Jews escaped under Moses". The point is that although all Jews are Israelites, not all Israelites are Jews, and the term "Jews" was first used only some seven centuries after Exodus and is first met in the King James Version only in 2 Kings 16:6.
