Metaphysical Realities of a Headache.(Poem)

 
METAPHYSICAL REALITIES OF A HEADACHE 
 
   1 
   Affliction: 
 
   some pulsing rhythm of the dark star 
   loaded with dreams and demons 
 
   causes your head to hang awkwardly 
   like a snapped stem unable to hold 
 
   the weight of the flower 
   and you know you're in for it 
 
   you need the reassurance 
   of a bed or a floor not this spinning planet 
 
   hurtling through space with the strangest feeling 
   that parts of you have already been transported 
 
   even though you're pinned to the spot 
   by gravitational forces that might be causing 
 
   the thump in your head. 
 
   You have to cancel the lesson-- 
   sorry it's the head I never know 
 
   when I'm going to get one 
   yes I have tried horse radish soup 
 
   acupuncture tourniquets devils on horseback 
   and herb Robert tea crushed with cranberries 
   and it has made a difference 
   but I still get them.
