S.KOREA'S ECONOMY FORECAST TO EXPAND AT UPPER 4 PCT THIS YEAR
SEOUL - The South Korean economy is expected to increase at the upper 4 per cent-range this year, mainly because of optimism about exports and domestic spending, the country's top economic policymaker said recently.
The official, however, warned that external risks such as high oil prices and financial volatility from the U.S. subprime mortgage defaults could depress the growth of Asia's third-largest economy.
VIETNAM MAGNET STARTS ATTRACTING RUSSIAN PRIVATE FIRMS
HANOI - Following large state-owned and joint stock enterprises, Russian private firms have started looking at investment opportunities in Vietnam , said Chairman of the Russia-Vietnam Business Council Mikhail Slipenchuk.
Speaking on Voice of Russia radio after leading a 100-strong delegation of Russian businesses to Vietnam in early November, Mikhail Slipenchuk, who is also General Director of Metropol, a Russian leading financial investment company, described 2007 as a year of fruitful economic cooperation between Russia and Vietnam .
