DHAKA, Jan 1 Asia Pulse - A total of 1,768 workers were killed and 1,782 injured in different workplaces in Bangladesh in 2007, according to a survey finding on occupational hazards and health.
Bangladesh Occupational Safety, Health and Environment Foundation (OSHE) revealed the statistics Monday after monitoring eleven daily newspapers from January 1, to December 31, 2007.
Among the total victims, 262 workers were female while 2,512 where male.
A release of the foundation said the occupational death and injury figures were the highest in the garment sector (total victimized workers 890) followed by the transport sector with 672 and construction sector 238.
