TAIPEI, Jan 1 Asia Pulse - The U.S.-based Business Environment Risk Intelligence (BERI) rated Taiwan the sixth lowest-risk country for investment in its third quarterly Business Environment Risk Report of 2007.
In the BERI report, which evaluates the business environment of over 50 countries, Taiwan has maintained its 6th place ranking among the world's lowest risk countries for investment, behind Switzerland, Singapore, the Netherlands, Japan, and Norway.
Taiwan maintained its scores from the last BERI report, receiving a rating of 1A, and a score of 72 on BERI's profit opportunity recommendation (POR) score. The score indicates that Taiwan is a low-risk country well-suited for investment.
The report predicts that Taiwan's overall investment environment would continue to improve, and that Taiwan's POR score will rise to 73 by 2008, and 74 by 2012, while maintaining its sixth ranking.
Taiwan ranked third among Asian countries for its business environment, behind only Singapore and Japan, but ahead of China, Malaysia, South Korea, Thailand, India and the Philippines, among others.
