Mazdaspeed3 * Mini Cooper * Saturn Sky
Of the three sporty cars we tested this month, we especially enjoyed driving the nimble and quick Mazdaspeed3 and Mini Cooper S. Both the Mini and the Saturn Sky Redline compromise practicality in various ways. In contrast, the Mazdaspeed3 has a useable rear seat, decent ride and interior noise, and room for luggage. We also expect the Mazda to have above-average reliability; the Sky's twin, the Pontiac Solstice, has had poor reliability. The redesigned Mini is too new for us to have reliability data.
