CHICAGO -- Most physicians who perform urethrolysis prefer the transvaginal approach, Dr. James Dunn said at the annual meeting of the American Urogynecologic Society.
Widespread incongruity has existed--even among the tightly knit urogynecology community--as to how to manage obstructive voiding after surgery for stress urinary incontinence.
In response to the general lack of consensus, Dr. Dunn of the Greater Baltimore Medical Center and his associates surveyed 834 American Urogynecologic Society members regarding evaluation of postoperative obstructive voiding and urethrolysis. The survey results were presented at the meeting, which was also sponsored by Loyola University Chicago, Maywood, III.
