An MIT neuroscience professor who sent negative emails to a faculty recruit will not be disciplined, according to a recent MIT report.

Susumu Tonegawa, a Nobel winner, sent neuroscience recruit Alla Karpova two emails opposing her potential move to MIT, saying that she would be in competition with him and that he would "not feel comfortable at all to have you here." Karpova eventually turned down MIT's offer and took a position at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute lab in Virginia.
