Experian puts its bureau on the web

Experian is offering web access to data previously available only via its bureau services or corporate desktop systems.

Demographics Online draws on data resources such as consumer and market demographics, economic forecasts, media and product consumption. Previously, researchers had to phone up and request the information they needed, which was then researched by a business analyst and emailed to them. Alternatively, they had to buy a complex corporate desktop system.

"We wanted to provide something in between," said Matthew Nutt of Experian. "Now customers can do some of the what-if analyses themselves."

The service provides a themed pack of information cherry-picked from sources that would have been supplied separately in the past. The themed format ...
