Deal gives academia four more years of ScienceDirect access
Kim Thomas
Elsevier and the National e-Journals Initiative 2 (NESLi2) have agreed a four-year licence extension to give members of NESLi2 continued access to ScienceDirect.
Under the deal, academic institutions will continue to have access to the ScienceDirect Freedom Collection, which contains around 1,900 journals.
JISC Collections, which is responsible for NESLi2, handles national negotiations, on behalf of UK institutions of higher and further education and the research councils, for journal deals with the 20 biggest scholarly publishers.
These deals are for bundled collections A- online aggregations of all a publisher's journals for a price based on current payments to that publisher, with an increment for online access.
