In 2003 when I was preparing for our Utah MTA state conference, our Certification Chair Molly Wilhelm made a chart to display at the Conference. It read "Certify or Petrify!"

Her slogan created some laughter, some thought, some talk and then some action. As I finished my year as state vice president and prepared for the office of state president, I made Certification a primary focus. A plan was devised to invite and inspire our Utah MTA members to become certified because that process had greatly influenced my private teaching after I joined Utah MTA.
