Newspaper article from: The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel TOM STRINI; Tom Strini The Historical Keyboard Society's first fund-raiser for its ambitious American Bach Project will take place Friday at the Brass Light Gallery, 131 S. 1st St. The main event, a concert by harpsichordist Joan Parsley and cellist Gustavo Tavares, will begin at 8 p.m. Tavares was born in Rio de Janeiro in 1961. He studied in Brazil, Germany, Austria and the United States, lately with Bernard Greenhouse, former Fine Arts Quartet cellist. Tavares is the assistant principal cellist of the Norwegian National Opera Orchestra, Oslo. He has extensively researched Latin American music and has had particular success in the Latin American Trio, with reed player Paquito D'Rivera and pianist Pablo Zinger. Tavares and Parsley will play music by Bach, Vivaldi and Villa-Lobos. Before the performances, a silent auction will open for bidding at 6:30 p.m.; Michael Gaenslen is catering the reception.
