I used to be a veejay on MTV2, which is perhaps the worst job for a grown woman with acne. Before every on-camera interview with a rock star, my skin would erupt. The crew still talks about the cystic pimple, so large a production assistant was dispatched for ice in a vain attempt to reduce the swelling, that rose majestically on my forehead hours before my chat with Bono.
My producer pulled me aside. "Listen, when you talk to Bono, don't face him," he said. "Look at the camera. That bump is too distracting in profile."
"You can see it on camera?" I whispered.
"You can see it from space," he replied.
Bono ...
