There is something distinctly different about fall's most refreshing new fragrances: They aren't named for sports stars or tabloid queens; they don't seem destined for a teenager's locker. The new storm of scents is grown-up and sophisticated, siphoned into heavyweight bottles that feel expensive, luxurious, classic. That's not to say there aren't personalities behind them: Gucci designer Frida Giannini, who's always preferred men's fragrances to women's, created Gucci by Gucci-a darkly sexy patchouli-pear-honey chypre-for herself, so "finally I can wear something more feminine than my husband." She loves the bottle so much-an architectural, Deco-ish cube-it inspired the design of their new Fifth Avenue boutique.
