The unexpected superhit of New York's Fashion Week for this fall/winter season was Isabel Toledo's return,
after a decade, with a solid-gold collection for Anne Klein. We met at the company's minimally appointed beige showroom, high on the thirty-seventh floor of the Jones Apparel Group headquarters in New York, just as she and her artist husband, Ruben, were having a private think-tank rendezvous before meeting the new company CEO, Wesley Card. There I got a one-on-one preview of her resort collection, as strong, as bold, as exciting as the fall presentation.
