I saw firsthand the devastating effects of breast cancer," remembers Ralph Lauren about his friend Nina Hyde's death from the disease in 1990. "Not only to women but also to the men in their lives, their families and friends." To honor Hyde, who had been fashion editor at The Washington Post, Lauren partnered with the CFDA in 1994 to found Fashion Targets Breast Cancer.
