Ask any of my friends, and they'll tell you: I wear sequins about as often as a Folies Bergere showgirl flits about in feathers. I can't remember a time when I haven't answered the call for something that glitters, gleams, and glistens. It's always the same pieces I return to-delicate little twenties capes or those old tops from the sixties that have zippered backs, which I reverse and wear as jackets. But I have a few rules about sparkle. One, I might love this fall's sequined dresses from Marc Jacobs and Dolce & Gabbana, but individual pieces that you can mix up are always better.
