SYDNEY, Dec 03 Asia Pulse - Developers of Sydney's integrated public transport ticketing system have made a last-ditch bid to save their contract, saying the T-card will be fully operational in 2009.
Integrated Ticketing Solutions (ITSL) released a statement saying the T-card public trial on trains and buses could take place next year.
Today is the deadline set by the NSW government for ITSL, a subsidiary of ERG Limited (ASX:ERG), to meet certain conditions or have its contract for the T-card cancelled.
NSW Transport Minister John Watkins said last month that the government had issued a notice of intention to terminate the T-card on December 3 as a result of delays and failure by the company to meet key milestones.
But ERG executive director Steve Gallagher said today the company was now well placed to implement the T-card system on a wide scale.
