HONG KONG--(BUSINESS WIRE) - Nov. 30, 2007-- Leading global law firm Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP opened its Hong Kong office on schedule in October. Lawyers in the Hong Kong office provide clients?with transactional counseling throughout Asia, broadening Weil Gotshal's regional presence from its substantial Shanghai?office, established in 2004. The firm is also undergoing preparations to open an office in Beijing in 2008.
Weil Gotshal has staffed its Hong Kong operation with transactional attorneys from both the firm's New York and Shanghai offices. Akiko Mikumo, a senior corporate partner from the New York office and a member of the firm's Management Committee, is Managing Partner for Asia and head of the Hong Kong office. Two additional partners relocated to Hong Kong: David Meredith, a corporate partner from Shanghai, specializing in securities financings, and Peter Feist, a corporate partner from New York who focuses on private equity and mergers & acquisitions.
