TAIPEI, Dec. 3 Asia Pulse - Premier Chang Chun-hsiung inspected the Taichung Harbor free trade zone (FTZ) Saturday and ordered harbor authorities to map out more favorable measures to help businesses stationed in the zone cut operating costs in order to attract further investment.
Chang was warmly welcomed by Minister of Transportation and Communications Tsai Duei; Lee Lung-wen, director of Taichung Harbor Bureau; and Jao Ping, director of Taichung Customs Office upon his arrival to Taichung Harbor FTZ for his second visited to the harbor since June 28, 2001.
During the tour, Chang was briefed by Lee on measures employed by the habor to attract investment and operations of the FTZ, plus its advantageous conditions, total import and export trade value and total cargo volume handled at the harbor, as well as its future development given the implementation of several projects under a BOT (Build Operate Transfer) approach.
