SYDNEY, Dec 3 Asia Pulse - Copper and gold explorer Oxiana Ltd will expand capacity at its Sepon copper project in Laos at a capital cost of $US178 million ($A201.64 million).
Oxiana said production will be increased to 80,000 tonnes per annum, from 60,000 by 2010.
"The overall life-of-mine operating costs will decrease by approximately 10 per cent and the incremental cost to produce the additional copper is less than US 50 cents per pound," Oxiana said.
