The Atlantic Philanthropies gave the American Association of Community Colleges a $3.2 million grant to develop programs to retrain retiring baby boomers to re-enter the workforce. Initially, 15 community colleges will develop programs, with five of those serving as mentor schools.
"Baby boomers want to remain active," said George Boggs, AACC president. "They want to prepare for second careers or volunteer activities. And of course they're going to be looking for a convenient place to do that." An AARP report said 79% of baby boomers plan to do some kind of work after age 65.
