Seeing Double
Seeing Double In our hair, split ends are a nuisance. On eyeliner, they can be a pleasant surprise. Lancome Le Crayon Khol Oriental Duo (above) and Sephora Bicolor Liner are divided at the tip into two distinct shades: one an everyday neutral, the other a metallic highlighter. And, according to makeup artist Chrisanne Davis, a simple twist of the pencil can create elaborate effects. "Smudge the two sides together for a smoky look," Davis says, "or use the light shade on the inside corners and the dark one on the outside for a wide-eyed look." Bottom Line: Frequent sharpening keeps the two colors well-defined -- and makes the pencils remarkably easy to use. -- LIANA MARRARO schaffner

Musical Notes

We took them to the BET Awards in Los Angeles and outside MTV's TRL Studio in New York City and asked music fans if these star performers are hitting all the right notes. -- ANITA PATRICKSON AND ALEXANDRA JORDAN
