Softimage debuts XSI 6.5, Face Robot 1.8.(PRODUCTS: MODELING * ANIMATION)(Brief article)
At SIGGRAPH, Softimage released the latest versions of its 3D animation software packages: XSI 6.5 and Face Robot 1.8.

The company also announced plans to repackage its Essentials and Advanced versions of XS1 6.5 with features and pricing that meet the specific needs of artists and studios, respectively. The Essentials and Advanced versions will include more than 30 enhancements developed for key customers such as Lionhead Studios, Valve, EA, Animal Logic, and NCSoft for improved production efficiency and specific workflow needs. These include HDR rendermap support, UV edit enhancements, and more.
The Essentials version, for artists, now includes Hair & Fur and Syflex Cloth capabilities. The price for Essentials will increase to $2995, and XSI 6.5 Essentials will only be available to new customers and those on active maintenance.
