Byline: Richard Myers
Nov. 1--Paul Shank and his Yuba City High boys soccer team had high hopes of hosting a first-round Sac-Joaquin Section Div. III playoff game.
The Honkers finished tied for first place in the Tri-County Conference with Natomas, but the Nighthawks were awarded the No. 1 seed, relegating Yuba City to the road when the playoffs open today.
Yuba City will face Bella Vista in Fair Oaks at 3 p.m.
"It's very disappointing, Honkers coach Paul Shank said of the lower seed.
The Honkers are one of three local teams to make the playoffs. The other two -- Lindhurst and Faith Christian -- don't play until Tuesday.
Yuba City's offense centers around Marco Fernandez, a center midfielder who controls the pace of the game and set ups the attack for the forwards.
