Nov. 1--In September 2005, I planted a crape myrtle that was 4 feet tall with a reasonable quantity of pink blooms. It leafed out nicely the following spring and grew new branches but did not flower. This year, the same thing: no flowers, but vigorous growth. All of the leaves are robust and healthy. I cut off the new growth at the end of last season thinking it would encourage flowering this year, but 10 branches sprouted with 2-foot growth and again no flowers.
