QUETTA, Nov 1 Asia Pulse - Work on the second and final phase of Sino-Pak deep sea port at Gwadar in Pakistan, along the Arabian Sea, is expected to be completed by 2010 at an estimated cost of US$840 million, officials sources told PPI here.
According to sources, the first phase of the Gwadar Port has already been completed at a cost of US$248 million, as a joint venture between Pakistan and China. China has carried 80 per cent of the cost, while Pakistan covered the remaining 20 per cent.
The first phase was inaugurated by President General Pervez Musharraf on March 20, 2007. Three berths completed under the first phase to handle ships, are expected to be fully functional by December this year. These berths are meant for handling transhipments cargo of international repute ...
