SEOUL, Nov 1 Asia Pulse - Hynix Semiconductor Inc. (KSE:000660), the world's No. 2 computer memory-chip maker, said Thursday that it has signed a consulting deal with a local environment company to enter the burgeoning carbon dioxide emissions trade market.
The contract with Ecoeye, a small-sized environmental consultancy, will help Hynix explore ways to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases at its main chipmaking plants in Icheon and Cheongju, two cities located south of Seoul, company officials said.
Under the Kyoto Protocol of 1997, the amount of reduced carbon dioxide emissions can be sold for cash and Annex I countries are required to reduce their aggregate emissions of greenhouse gases by at least 5 per cent from 1990 ...
