Oct. 31--VICTORVILLE -- Authorities seized 20 pounds of cocaine worth at least $250,000 during a stop along Interstate 15 just north of Victorville, officials said Tuesday.
Detectives from the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department High Intensity Criminal Interdiction Team on Monday stopped a 23-year-old on Interstate 15 at Wild Wash, said Detective James Hoffman. The cocaine was hidden in the dashboard.
The stop was for vehicle code violations, but based on suspicious circumstances following the stop, Hoffman asked the man, later identified as Arizonaresident Octavio Ontiveros, for consent to search the vehicle.
"When he was stopped he was extremely nervous, and it wasn't his vehicle," Hoffman said of the black Jeep Cherokee.
"He was having a hard time standing still, and he wouldn't look at me when I was talking to him," Hoffman said. "He had so many air fresheners in the vehicle that it was almost to the point where ...
