Oct. 27--Those who said a dog park couldn't happen here were, it turns out, barking up the wrong tree.

The 1.3-acre dog park -- or in politically correct parlance, "off-leash area" -- that began on a trial basis in LaSalle Park on Aug. 4 is now permanent, Erie County Executive Joel A. Giambra and Assemblyman Sam Hoyt said Friday.
