Oct. 26--Bedford County schools have been in the national spotlight for the past two weeks following the death of a student from MRSA, but a group of parents with children in Bedford schools want to ensure that precautions stay long after the spotlight has faded.

"Everyone has a responsibility here ... right up through the state level," said Chanin Gottschalk, one of four members of Concerned Parents for Bedford County who spoke at Thursday's school board meeting. "I think we all have a lot to give."

Gottschalk, who has three sons in the school district, said the group doesn't wish to be combative but does want to draw…
