Canada''s railways are working more closely together than ever before and have made huge investments in locomotives and railcars to meet capacity challenges that could hinder the nation''s growth as a global trader, delegates to the second annual Canada Maritime Conference were told.
"We have a very good working relationship with CN," said Don Campbell, vice-president of corporate planning for Canadian Pacific Railway, although he noted that sometimes when the two railways sit down to talk about opportunities, they have to say "no" to each other.
Three years ago, CN and CPR announced a series of co-production agreements to increase capacity on key sections of track in the Vancouver area and improve the fluidity of rail operations over existing infrastructure.
