The practice of leading others is a paradox. Some assume that the few need to control the many. "But if you're a good leader, you know when to get out of the way," said Sean Fanelli, president of Nassau Community College NY. "We think of leadership as organizational, but it's really how you relate within the organization."

This and other leadership wisdom was shared by members of the president's panel at the National Institute for Leadership Development in the Community College held in Scottsdale AZ in November.
