The Collaborative Conference of the Canadian Federation of Music Teachers' Associations, Music Teachers National Association and The Royal Conservatory of Music opened on March 23, 2007, with Pedagogy Friday: Exploring Evaluation and Assessment. Hosted by RCM Examinations, this pre-conference event was made possible through the generous sponsorship of Yamaha Canada Music Ltd. and Yamaha Corporation of America.

Founded in 1886, The Royal Conservatory of Music is widely recognized as one of the most significant music institutions in Canada. RCM Examinations is the division of The Royal Conservatory of Music dedicated to administering the examinations based on the RCM curriculum. RCM Examinations conducts more than 100,000 music examinations per year in more than 300 communities through a network of local centers. The College of Examiners comprises more than 350 distinguished teachers and performers.

This full-day event served the dual purpose of professional development for members of the RCME College of Examiners, while at the same time fulfilling the role of the traditional "Pedagogy Saturday" and "Professional Studio Saturday" preceding MTNA conferences.
