CLEVELAND, Oct. 21 (UPI) -- Cleveland Indians pitcher Paul Byrd allegedly purchased nearly $25,000 worth of human growth hormone from a Florida clinic under investigation, it was reported Sunday.
The San Francisco Chronicle reported that between August 2002 and January 2005, the veteran major league pitcher allegedly made 13 separate purchases from the Palm Beach Rejuvenation Center.
The Florida clinic has been under investigation by the Albany, N.Y., district attorney as part of a growing inquiry into the sales of growth hormones and steroids nationwide.
