Trustees should help their school's sports programs to be better integrated into overall academic school goals, four experts on intercollegiate athletics advised recently.

NCAA President Myles Brand and three other panelists told participants at the annual meeting of the Association of Governing Boards of Universities and Colleges that universities have made solid progress in improving student-athletes' academic performances.

However, the public excitement about college sports will continue to pose challenges, Brand said. "College sports is really TV writ large. The need for content continues to grow."
