The University of Kentucky will become the state's second public university to offer benefits to unmarried couples this July. The school will extend health coverage to domestic partners as part of an $11.8 million benefits package approved by its board of trustees.
Although the state's governor opposes such benefits, UK President Lee Todd said that the package is needed to attract and retain the best faculty and staff.
