The use of male practice players in female sports is widespread in all three NCAA divisions, according to recent results from an NCAA survey.
About 65% of Division I schools used male practice players in at least one women's sport in 2005-2006. That compares with 35% in Division II and 41% in Division III. The biggest use of male practice players occurred in basketball, with volleyball and soccer also reporting frequent use.
