MIT's nationally renowned admissions dean resigned recently after a discovery that her credentials were fabricated.

When Marilee Jones applied to MIT 28 years ago, she padded her resume with fake degrees from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Union College and Albany Medical College. While Jones does have a degree from the College of St. Rose in Albany, none of the other three is true.

"I misrepresented my academic degree when I first applied to MIT 28 years ago and did not have the courage to correct my resume when I applied for my current job or at any time since," Jones admitted. "I am deeply sorry for this and disappointing so many in the MIT ...
