Georgia Tech and Bryn Mawr College PA are wooing women to computer science with the aid of robots. To address the field's perceived lack of glamour, the schools gave students robots on the first day of class to use them for programming and other projects.

Enrollment in undergrad computer science programs has dipped overall, but the number of women has decreased even more: 70% between 2000 and 2005, according to the National Center for Women & Information Technology.
