Syracuse University NY will cut two sports teams and add another to help balance its athletics budget and perhaps compliance with Title IX.

The school will cut the women's and men's swimming and diving teams and add a women's ice hockey team for 2008-2009. The change will give more opportunities and more scholarships to female athletes, helping the school to comply with Title IX.
