Eastern Michigan University compromised the safety of its 24,000 students on campus and violated federal law when leaders knew that a dead student probably had been murdered and concealed that information, according to a recent 568-page report.

EMU officials knew that police immediately thought Laura Dickinson had been murdered, the report says, but did not report that to the public for more than two months, during which the suspect continued to live on campus.
