With the recent acceptance of the Panamanian ports of Colon and Manzanillo, the U.S. Container Security Initiative now includes seven ports in the Caribbean Basin.
Located near the Atlantic entrance of the Panama Canal, the two new ports are considered among the largest ports in Latin America. Antillean Marine recently began a scheduled weekly service to Manzanillo from Miami with a stop at Haiti.
The other CSI ports in the basin are Cartagena, Colombia; Puerto Cortes, Honduras; Caucedo, Dominican Republic; Kingston, Jamaica; and Freeport, Grand Bahama Island.
