President Bush proclaimed April 12, 2007 National Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) Day. The announcement last week said that "each year, D.A.R.E. teaches millions of children across our country how to resist drugs and violence." D.A.R.E. is a program for 5th and 6th graders conducted by a law enforcement officer. Depending on what the local community can spare, a police officer may teach 17 hours of classes, or may actually have an office in the school.
