The transformation is coming. It has been called the Age Wave, the Pig in the Python and the Gray Dawn. By any name, the aging of America is a mega trend that will have a profound impact on all aspects of society--including the CPA profession.
Consider these statistics from the U.S. Census Bureau. The leading edge of the Baby Boomers (born between 1946 and 1964) turns 60 this year. Currently, about 34.9 million U.S. citizens are age 65 or older. By 2030, that number is expected to double to 70 million.
